Greed

Greed

I took this shot while strolling through the streets of an expensive shopping area in San Francisco, not too long after the #blacklivesmatter protests. I captured the shot because it was such a powerful visual representation of the energy and anger in the streets—especially in the heart of a high-end shopping district that was boarded up and licking its wounds from the night before.

I call this image "Greed", because indeed, there was something so incredibly out of touch with luxury brands advertising to consumers as if nothing in the world is happening out of the ordinary. That the focus was on consumerism rather than the actual consumers.

Additionally, you'll observe a discussion starting to break out. Posting on our social media, electronic walls for the past several months in lockdown was one of the only interactions we had with other people. I found it interesting that the seed of a discussion was starting on a rather different kind of (analog) wall. That once we went outside, we were still posting our opinions on walls.
